The above reports were adopted by the general committee and it was also decided: (1) That the Government be requested to contribute an annual sum of $6,000. (2) That annual 'subscriptions be invited from the shops and family houses of Hongkong ranging from $1 upwards. This last source of revenue should produce an annual sum of $6,000, but if the Government is unable to give the above grant, then the committee is afraid that hardly $6,000 will be realised.

The Committee consider, that the above additional

revenue should be sufficient for the next few years, and that

after the new buildings have been open for some time a more accurate idea of the necessary expenditure will be obtained.
